Union sociale pour l'habitat has planned to set up a SMTP gateway making it possible to sign the whole of the e-mails of its personnel towards its members and its partners.
This system aims at ensuring the confidence of its members while enabling them to control the authenticity of the messages sent by Union without obliging them to install a plug in in their e-mail service client.
The adopted solution is thus based on "S/MIME" technology present in all the e-mail service clients.
The system set up is a solution proposed by UTIMACO marketed under the name "SecurE-mail Gateway".

This system makes it possible to sign and to encrypt the transmitted messages.
It can also use another technology of signature and encrypting: "PGP" which requires, for it, the installation of a plug in by each user.
The version installed at the beginning of January 2005 is version 4.4.
The final system will be deployed at the end of the validation period within the framework of the European project Trusted@work4homes.
E-mailboxes in the format: "firstname.name@trustedatwork4homes.com" will be placed at the disposal of the members of the consortium in order to validate the interest of the solution for a use within their own company and to apprehend, in real situation, the whole of the technical constraints of this solution.
