Application: Saving water and energy consumption with telemetry & Internet
Volkswohnung is planning to provide to its tenants, by Internet, detailed information about their consumption of heating and water to permit them to react and save energy and money.
The following features are planned to be shown to our customers in the first step:· Information about their last consumption data and costs,
· Time series data, for comparing accounting periods,
· Graphical support of those features.
Volkswohnung is going to provide the following service parts in the field of EAccess:
A. Metering Device setup and operation
In the first step, it is necessary to install radio controlled devices in the flats of our customers, to enable the measurement of their consumption behaviour.
These metering-devices will send their measurements to data-collectors which are placed in every floor of our buildings.
The data-collectors send twice a month their data to a central data-collector, which can be accessed via telephone lines or by wireless mobile phone technology (GSM).
The individual data will be pre-processed in our IT-Department (LOG-Files, plausibility checks), is stored in a SQL-database and will then be sent to our ERP system via an interface (SQL<->ERP).
The billing of the data for the consumption costs is an integrated feature of the ERP-System.
B. Tenant Consumption Portal
Once the billing process is completed, we are able to show our tenants the actual billing data through a secure internet portal.
This programme will have many positive effects for our tenants and for our company, e.g.· The tenants can react directly on their consuming behaviour and save money.
· Volkswohnung can directly create a bill in case that the tenant give notice of his contract, instead of to wait until the end of the accounting period.
· No third party is needed to create the bill, because all data are available.
· Through a more effective business process our company is able to save direct and indirect costs.
· The environment will be protected by the use of less energy if the tenants change their consumption behaviour.
